This page is designed for advanced technical troubleshooting on Windows Services


On January 14, 2020, support for Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 will end. That means the end of regular security updates.This means this will no longer receive support by EFM.

Order Lookup Is reliant on a Message Transformer Windows Service. We are now aware that in some very rare circumstances on Windows Server 2008 R2, when patches/updates are installed often on weekends resulting in the service to no longer be transmitting messages.


Identification

Confirm that the service has been interrupted and that files are no longer transmitting.

  1. Access the file Directory, If files are found, this confirms the failure
    1. e.g.C:\Users\Steven.Reynolds\Desktop\company\Export

Resolution

The Resolution of this disconnection that occurs as a result of a patch is simply to restart the service

  1. Windows Search
    1. "Services"
  2. Message Transformer "Right Click"
    1. Restart


Automated Resolution

If this issue is occurring on a schedule based on the scheduled maintenance of a server/device

  1. Windows Search
    1. "Scheduler"
  2. Select task Scheduler
    1. Create a Basic Task
      1. Name 
      2. Description
    2. Trigger - Select Frequency of occurrence
      1. Select Details of occurrence
        1. Start
        2. Time
        3. Duration
    3. Action
      1. Start a Program
      2. Select  - Restart_Message_Transformer.bat
    4. Finish
