Installing a Zebra GK420d on a Macintosh

Step 1

Plug your printer into a USB port on the Mac.

Step 2

Open Safari, and go to 127.0.0.1:631. It will open an admin control panel. (If you receive: "The web interface is currently disabled." See below)
How to re-enable CUPS on your MAC
Go to the search Spotlight in the upper right hand corner of your MAC
Type in TERMINAL and click on the Application titled TERMINAL
Below is the command that will re-enable the CUPS interface. 

  • cupsctl WebInterface=yes

Now when you go to the CUPS WEBSITE it should be enabled. 
 

Step 3

Click on "Adding Printers & Classes".
 

Step 4

Click on "Add Printer".
 

Step 5

Choose the printer from the list. The name will look something like "Zebra LP-2844-z Label Printer".
 

Step 6

You will be prompted to add details for the printer like a name. Choose something memorable.
 

Step 7

You will be asked to choose a driver for the printer. Choose "Zebra".
 

Step 8

It will ask you to choose a driver from the list. Choose "Zebra ZPL Label Printer".
 

Step 9

Press "Add Printer". Your printer should now be installed correctly.
